Robinson Bradshaw attorney John R. Wester argued on behalf of Gov. Pat McCrory and former Govs. Jim Hunt and Jim Martin in a landmark case before the N.C. Supreme Court. In March, Robinson Bradshaw successfully argued that the General Assembly’s appointments to environmental commissions violated separation of powers provisions in the North Carolina Constitution. A three-judge panel of Superior Court judges unanimously ruled in favor of the governors, and Senate leader Phil Berger and Speaker Tim Moore appealed the ruling.
The seven Supreme Court justices have not yet ruled on Tuesday’s arguments. The governors were represented by Wester, David C. Wright and Andrew A. Kasper. Wester was quoted by several news outlets covering the case; following is a sampling:
